Out of State Tuition issue

Hello all, I have two question. As an OS student, tuition is a quite a concern for me. If I were to declare myself an independent (I'm currently a dependent under my parents) and work for a year.

I. Would I be able to attain state citizenship?
II. Would I be eligible to pay the amount of IS tuition?

Any information is much appreciated.

When I went to the accepted students orientation in March, they said that many people have tried that and it doesn't work.

Bummer... Thanks for the heads up though. CC is really resourceful.

If a reasonable case can be made that the only reason you came to the state of Michigan was to be attend college, then you do not qualify for resident tuition. Even if you work, even if you're independent, even if you buy a house in Michigan.

Thanks again for the clarification.
