So, I've grown up and went to Illinois schools all my life, but I feel that it's going to be very difficult getting into Urbana and I'm not really a fan of NIU, SIU, etc. I was just wondering, considering that I have grandparents who have lived in Missouri for over 15 years, would it be possible to find a way to receive in-state tuition at Mizzou in Colombia? It may look like I'm cheating the system, but is it possible to move down there after senior year, get a Missouri drivers license, get a summer job, etc. and be able to recieve in-state tuition? Any suggestions, thoughts, words of wisdom?

To find out what the specific residency regulations are for the public universities in Missouri, you need to check their websites. Most states would require that you move there, get a job, and pay more than half of your living expenses (if not all of them) for a full twelve months before beginning college. In some cases (for example Maryland) the time period for establishing residence is shorter for community colleges.

But, if you check the OOS costs at all of the universities in Missouri, you might come up with one that is not much more expensive than in-state costs in Illinois would be.
