<p>I heard a lot of people say that out-of-state UC students can pay in-state tuition after the first year...is this true? And if it is, where can you find the information online??</p>
<p>That's a common misconception. For one thing, you have to show that you can support yourself for 2 years... which means that you cannot be claimed as a dependent on your parents' tax returns if you're OOS. So, you would need to show independent status during your senior year of high school if you wanted to go through with the "after 1 year" thing. </p>
