Out of State(UF), to CCC, then UCLA/B/SD?

I had a serious revelation and realized UF is not for me. I have a 3.3 at UF with an Economics major. I never really wanted to go here though. So I figured I'd go to SMC probably, do well, and then try to get in to one of the aforementioned UCs. Any tips? Yeah I am entering my third year, but time and money are not an issue for me. Anyone know of something like this happening before? I've always wanted to go because ever since I saw a Final Four game when I was 7 or 8, I've always wanted to go to UCLA.

I went to state school for a year, got a 2.96 gpa, then moved out to California to go to cc...got a 3.9 gpa, and got into ucla has a history major. With your 3.3, unless your bizecon you should have no problem getting into ucla if you can swing a 3.7+

No I'm a liberal arts and science econ, but I think at UCLA, B, or SD I'll do a double major of econ and maybe industrial engineering. Also, lax, did you goto cc for one or two years? Thanks.

derekc4 how many units have you completed at UF?

I spent just 1 year @ my CC. I had 26 credits from state univ so the only thing that was a pain in the ass was the amount of credits I had to take (18 first semester, 23 2nd). The univ's wont tell you what classes will transfer, and a few of mine weren't locks to transfer (english/math/history ones will transfer, I had a few slacker classes that were boarderline) so I decided to play it safe and take a ton of credits.

I will have credit for 67 but a lot of those are AP, IB, and transfer (took a cc course over the summer)

I believe that most if not all of the UC's have a policy that a student is not allow to apply if they complete more than 80 UC transferable semester units (some departments have exceptions such as engineering). The exception is if all units have been completed at a two year college. Being in your third year I assume that you are on a semester schedule and if that is the case you might be in a very tight situation on how many units you can take. You need to complete the IGETC and major preq's and some of the classes you took at UF might not complete all the requirements. Also I believe that you need to have so many units completed at a CCC to be considered for California Community College priority admission. It might be rather difficult to transfer to a UC even if you come back to Ca if at all possible try to stay at UF because if transfering to UC's don't work out you will be in a tuff position. But again I am no expert, you should get in touch with a CCC counselor to see if it is possible to work the situation out.
