Out of State Wait-List

Hi all,

A friend of ours is an out-of-state student to be that’s been placed on the wait-list by Ole Miss. She’s one point shy on the ACT from fulfilling the out-of-state requirements for standard admission, and was told in January that she was placed on a wait-list.

Looking around the web, I haven’t found very much on chances of being admitted from the wait-list or out-of-state student admission chances for students below one of the admission criteria. Does anyone know anything about the wait-list for out of state students in that regard, and how many students Ole Miss generally admits from there?

I know that when we visited Ole Miss they said they had classes for students with >20 ACT scores, so I know that such students are admitted, though I don’t know if that’s predominantly an in-state thing, or what have you. Any insight will be sincerely appreciated.

Thanks!

@brodiebruce The best thing to do is stay is encourage them to stay in touch with their admissions counselor or try testing again on the ACT. They probably asked for some supplemental information. They should submit that quickly and show why through other means they would be a contributing member to the Ole Miss student body (leadership experience, community service, special talents, etc.). Best of luck!
