out of state

Hi everyone. I'm from New York. I heard this is the best UNC school, and I wanted to know what makes it better. Also, what's the percent of people that get in from out of state? Also, do they look at someone who has had an upward trend of grades. For example, my freshman year, I got mainly B's. Sophmore year mainly A's and B's and junior year all A's. Also, what is the surrounding area around the campus? Is it an urban or suburban setting? How far is it from a main city?

UNC-CH is the flagship school and the most competitive school to get into in the UNC system. The campus is beautiful, the facilities are top notch, the athletic teams are nationally competitive, there is tremendous school spirit and lastly the students are extremely bright and friendly. While upward trending grades is certainly good, you should be aware that UNC gets a lot of OOS applicants with extremely strong academic credentials competing for very few spots in the incoming class. UNC admitted 14 percent of out-of-state students in 2012, down from the prior year’s 18.1 percent. Chapel Hill is a very nice college town, but it certainly is not large. Raleigh is not very far away and is fairly good sized.
