Out of State

In the guidelines to apply for state residency is says that you must be finacially independent. Is there a way to get out of this? Also, I have been told that you can use a relatives address on the application to show that you have residency and have been living there. Can anyone give their input on this.

Financial independence means you have a job to support yourself (rent, food and tuition), or have a huge trust fund that you can draw on. Also, your parents cannot provide ANY support and must not claim you as a tax deduction. You can use a parent's address if they live in California, but any other relative would be denied unless you live with them and graduate from a California high school.
