Out of State

What exactly is the difference between applying out of state and in state at Michigan? Is it significantly more difficult to get in out of state than in state?

Also, how does Michigan's "formula" for admission work?

It's pretty difficult to get in whether or not you're in state or out of state (Some of my friends didn't get in and are in state so being an in-stater doesn't guarantee you anything). However, if you're borderline in your stats, yes, it is easier to get a push into the school if you're in state.

Since Gratz and Grutter, undergraduate admissions are no longer decided according to a formula (or at least they aren't supposed to be).
