Your SAT scores are on the low side for OOS admits, but there’s always a chance. If you are from NJ or NY, I’d say that it is highly unlikely that you’ll be admitted; there are just too many others applying from those states. If you’re from Wyoming, then it’s probably a different story. However, if you do get in, are you prepared to have to pay the full amount for OOS tuition? Your numbers will not qualify you for merit aid. Even if you qualify for financial aid, they do not meet 100% of need, even with loans. Sorry to sound so negative, but just wanted to make sure you realize what you face. Good luck to you, whether you come to UMD or elsewhere.

I’m from PA so I am not too sure how much they accept from there, but I am not too worried about tuition, I’ve gotten some local scholarships and luckily my parents have saved up since I was little. I know the SATs are a little low but it’s too late to retake-- I guess I’ll find out on the 31st!

thanks fieldhockey… i’m freaking out a little!

we will get through it… less than two weeks now! I’d rather just know now so i can move on with my life if I dont get accepted and stop being a nervous wreck… hahaha

I think you definitely have a decent chance of gaining acceptance from UMD. However, as astrophysicsmom pointed out, your SAT Math score is a bit on the low end of the spectrum. Your GPA is fine. Your ECs are fairly average. And, I’m going to go ahead and assume you had decent essays and LORs.

So, with all that thrown into the mix, your chances of getting in aren’t bad at all. However, I don’t know how many PA applicants UMD receives so there’s still that lurking variable. I would suggest you relax and not think about it too much until maybe two or three days until the D-Day.
