Hi! I'm an out-of-state potential applicant, and I was wondering the general acceptance rate for out-of-staters, as well as how I would fend with:

93.3 UW Freshman Year, 96 UW Sophomore Year, 95.5 UW Junior Year thus far GPA-- (94.9 UW)
(All possible AP/Honors Classes)
I have achieved high honors Arabic Language and Chinese Language Extra Curricular interests, as well as consistent annual leads in our school's Shakespeare Company-- I work in an environmental group that cleans up local rivers as community service, and I have strong interests in International Relations, Polotics and Foreign Language.
My Sophomore Year PSATS were a 200, and my Junior Year PSATS were a 231.

Thank you!

It's a little lower - 21% vs. 28%, iirc, or something to that effect. It's definitely doable. Don't worry about the lower Freshman year GPA - those classes aren't factored into your GPA, I think. Make sure you get the SAT I, II, and ACT done asap...

As for chances, I won't bother... that isn't my thing...

do you know what your unweighted/weighted gpa is on the 1-4 scale? it'll be easier to look at, since i think that is what they look at during admissions. your EC's look pretty good and well rounded. also, be wary of using your PSATs to make predictions; in my case, i got a score between the 228-230 range, but wound up scoring below that when compared to my actual SAT (2010). i had to wind up taking the ACTs on which i did a lot better.

i'm an out-of-stater who got in this year (from ga), so if you want, check out my stats under one of the admissions decisions threads i've posted under.

I would imagine though, that the out-of-state applicant pool is of higher overall quality compared to the in-staters who apply to every UC...And because all out-of-staters know Berkeley is a reach school for them.

I am out-of-state and I got into engineering. I'm from Illinois so I love your name, OP.

i'm from out of state and got in.

trance0i2- you dont submit a gpa, they calculate one on their own.

heres my old chance thread for stats
