Is it better to go to an out-of-state college, or in-state college....
Also, is it better to go to an ivy-of-choice that offers you no scholarship or fin. aid...hence, you are left to pay off hefty loans when you leave...
Or, to go to a in-state college [say, Rutgers] w/ scholaship and fin. aid?
Lastly, what kind of scholarships and awards are there that you can apply to, in order to make you college fees minimal and to stand out on college apps...?
Thanks!

“Is it better…” A matter of personal preference, no? I suppose if your dream school lies outside your state, then you have to go out-state, right?

As for attending a more “prestigious” name school like an Ivy with little FA versus another school with generous aid/grants, that’s a question for you and your parents to discuss. Over on the Parents forum are several threads that discuss this issue. But depending on the school you target, they may be very generous regardless. Some of the Ivies have the most generous FA programs extant.

As for scholarships, you should make an appt with your HS guidance counselor and do some serious online searching. It’s worth the effort.
