Is it difficult for an out-stater (from NY) to get accepted to Rutgers?

probably not.

definitely not, i applied from florida and got in

it is more difficult stats-wise, but definitely not impossible. however, it's harder to get into the honors program or the presidential scholarship

i see, thanks. i just applyed yesterday, hopefully i will get in. ^_^

well 90% of students ARE NJ RESIDENTS and only 10% are from out of state. your grades need to be pretty good to get in.

What kind of stats are needed to gain acceptance for in-state kids ?

Kids that get accepted into Rutgers are..
41% are in the top 10th of graduating class
81% are in the top quarter of graduating class
99% are in the top half of graduating class

"Rutgers New Brunswick is a public ivy school, and is really competitive. to even be consider you need a 3.5 GPA or higher."

This isn't true. I know MANY people who have gotten in with a 3.0-3.3

bummmppppppp

Public Ivy School ? University of Virginia, University of Michigan, UC Berkley I can see...
Rutgers is an okay school but relating it to an Ivy League School seems a bit of a stretch, IMO

i got these facts from collegeboard.com

MBJ, RU is definetly a public ivy. Although it is not on the same teir as Virgina, Chapel hill, or Umich, its still up there. RU is a very good public school, just not as high as the "well-known" ones.
