Outcomes after EA/ED Rejection Last Year

This is my third cycle on CC of watching ED/EA results coming in and the blood starting to flow. Partly as data and partly to give some hope to the current batch of students, if your S/D/you were rejected/deferred ED/EA last year, please give a simple four-line summary showing the ED/EA school applied to, the result, school ultimately attended, and how happy the student is on a 1-10 scale (est.).

School: Yale
Result: Rejected
School Attended: Smith
Happiness: 9.8

School:MIT
Result: Deferred
Attending: MIT
Happiness: 10

School: Yale
Result: Deferred
Attending: Villanova (Honors)
Happiness: 10

School: Yale
Result: Rejected
Attending: Harvard
Happiness: 9.9

School: Dartmouth
Result: Deferred ED, rejected RD
Attending: Bates
Happiness: 10

Older sibling attended Dartmouth, so we have some comparative data. For her, rejection was the best outcome. Why? No language requirement at Bates (mathmatically gifted, had to work very hard in languages). Friendly and very available profs (good fit for her). We couldn't be happier with how it all worked out!

School: Yale
Result: Rejected
Response: Applied Tufts ED round 2
Result: Accepted
Attending: Tufts
Happiness: 11 ;)

(Thanks, TheDad! I really hope those who are rejected to their ED/EA schools find this thread!)

School: Yale
Result: Deferred
School Attended: Yale
Happiness: 10

Three other people we know were also deferred in Yale's EA round last year. One is attending Harvard, one the University of Chicago, one Wesleyan; all are reportedly extremely happy.

School: Wellesley
Result: Deferred ED/Rejected RD
School Attended: Scripps
Happiness: 9.9

I know that I'm happier at Scripps than I ever would have been at Wellesley - I'm one of the few who is actually glad (in retrospect) that I was rejected from my "first choice."

Yup, Yale was a veritable blood bath last year---it was something to behold... What are the odds that this year will be different?

This is the most informative and wonderful thread I've ever seen! I'm so inspired...and my rejection to Princeton is probably already in the mail :)

Here's hoping we all get rejected!!!

I was rejected from Columbia this year.. and you know what.. I'm happy!!! :)
There are so many more opportunities waiting for me..!!!!

Cheers!

Jeez, now I feel such a piker for estimating my D's happiness at 9.8. 11, eh? Well my D is really 12.3!

Okay, keep those cards, letters, and rejection/attending profiles coming.

Silver_wavez, you're one of the reasons I started this thread. I'm glad you found it.

School: Yale
Result: Accepted EA
School Attended: Vanderbilt
Happiness: 9.9

School: Brown
Result: Deferred ED/ Accepted RD
School Attended: Yale
Happiness: 10

Will you look at this already! My goodness.
I'd love to know where everyone is in 10 yrs. You folks can tell me where to find the best oral surgeon, tax attorney or investment counselor!

The Best and the Brightest. The point is, do you accept others?

This is also calming for the parents and kids who are still waiting. . .

School: Emerson (Acting program)
Result: Deferred EA/ Accepted RD (not to acting program)
School Attended: Boston U
Happiness: 9.8

"Silver_wavez, you're one of the reasons I started this thread. I'm glad you found it." - That is incredibly touching..
Thank you soo much!!
The support and care on CC is amazing..

I'm glad I found it too.
But I never lost hope.. and I never will.. because I just keep going. Columbia may have been my first choice.. but it's only one out of hundreds of greats schools.. and only one out of the other 10 I am applying to!

School: Columbia College of Columbia U
Result: Deferred ED/Rejected in April
School Attended: Swarthmore
Happiness: Can't quantify but very happy.
