hey guys! I was wondering what kind of activities (active ones) students at NU are involved in during the winter.

Also, does NU have any outdoor education (kayaking, backbacking, rock climbing) programs available to students?

During winter, many students are involved in fraternity and sorority rush. As well, fraternities around here sometimes throw parties that people like to go to.

We have intramural sports throughout the year. In the winter we have basketball, floor hockey, and something else I can't think of. Students involve themselves in this.

As well, students can end up doing research or other work under a professor.

Furthermore, you'll always find a group of kids outside playing football in the snow or having a snowball fight. Honestly, you'll find something to do during winter.

Not to mention, there are numerous clubs, concerts, activities, etc offered around campus. It's really up to you.

Outdoor activities:

There's a great club here called the Outdoors Club. They do have trips every quarter where they go kayaking, rock climbing, hiking etc. I don't know how commited they are to it during winter, but I know they're busy during the fall and spring.

Hope that helps!

its one of the few schools i know of that offers sailing !! (on lake michigan).
although i wouldnt exactly want to fall off/capsize in lake michigan any time of the year....

i dont' sail now...but i would REALLY like to learn....i'm curious as to what months sailing is in season.....

its very easy to learn and awesome fun... my guess is that summer autumn is probably only time water temp is bearable .. unless they sail in wetsuits...
