outdoor track

I have a couple questions (sorry...they pertain more to sports than to Stanford):
1. What caliber sprinter you have to be to make Stanford's track team?
2. If you're in a spring sport, will your senior season not be considered in the admissions process?

...anyone?

Anyone know about high jump?

Stanford is a top school for athletics and academics. I would think you would have to be extremely gifted to run track at Stanford.

Thanks...
What about the spring sport thing? What if you don't peak until senior season (around May-June)?

Bump.

Stanford has an AMAZING track and field team. One of my best track buddies in high school, Myles Bradley, was their top recruit this past season, and he has the 2nd fastest 55m hurdle high school time EVER (7.26). He also jumped 24'2" and 48'11" in the long and triple to give you some perspective.
In addition, last year they brought in Wompano Oseisei who ran 21.07 and 10.58 in high school. These were their top recruits and while they were better than previous seasons, this is where their program is headed. The distance/XC program has always been national caliber, and now their sprinters are getting there.

For high jump, Stanford only had one jumper on the entire team last year, freshman Obinna Eminike. He jumped 6'6" in high school, so I assume if you're in the 6'4" range and have the grades, you could probably walk-on.

And yes, senior year won't count in admissions. I was injured my entire senior year, but luckily had run fast enough junior year and the summer before my senior year to still be heavily recruited. There is a late signing period if you decide to apply regular decision, but that's running a huge risk.

6'4'' if you're a guy.........probably 5'4'' for girls, it always seems to be exactly a foot off, or at least in terms of qualifying for league/district/state.

I mean, national high school cut-off is 6'6" for rankings, so that's usually a good indicator of the top 100/150 athletes in that event.

Girls I have no idea, my high school team had a girl at 5'4" and two others over 5' and my ex-girlfriend on another team in the league jumped 5'4" as a five-foot-three-inch jumper her junior year. She's on scholarship at UMass-Lowell right now, which has an absolutely ridiculous DII powerhouse program.

You have to be very very godd. You should be hearing from other big d1 schools in order to give you an indication of whether you should contact the stanford coaches

I think he might be talking about walking on, not recruitment.
Or at least I am.
I've heard they can't consider your senior year (I asked the same question) It can help you in just showing passion in your app, even if you aren't recruited.
