Over the max

1st q: For online submissions, do any colleges that say, for example, 500-word max actually electronically cut off your essay at 500 words? I have one that goes a bit over, and I'm really afraid of that o_O
More specifically, any of the Ivy's, Tufts, or SUNY Stony Brook? [not that that's my full college list, and not that I'm applying too all the Ivy's...]

2nd q: For going a bit over, what was the rule of thumb, don't go more than 10% of the max? e.g. up to 550 should be acceptable for a 500-max?

Thanks!! :)

bumpppppppp

I don't think so. I mean what about those paper application essays which go over the 500 words limit? Common sense tells me no, but if your essay goes way over 500 words (650+), then they may consider the possibility.

nope, like 514 :P haha

thanks!
