FYI, every year, for reasons that are never clear, a few kids who transfer harp on why they hate BU. It's a big school and people transfer in and out and every person's experience is different. (People also transfer in and out of small schools and it's sometimes funny when someone transferring in is saying how much they hate the place the person transferring out prefers.) The BU board is one of the more active discussions so maybe that's why, but if you go back to last year and the year before you'll see what I mean. I'm not saying a transfer shouldn't or can't say what he or she didn't like but don't hang around like a ghost.

If you're not into the whole social frat and hazing thing, there are also other frats that you can join. I believe there is a community service frat and if you're at all interested in business, there are two pretty active business frats as well.

Is the grade deflation (or rather, the rigor of BU's grading policy) enough to keep one from entering an Ivy Graduate school? I understand that college classes themselves are more challenging than high school, but for an entering SMG student like myself, does it rule out certain graduate schools? I've heard that "some" schools recognize BU's tough grading so does that mean that other grad schools are basically ignorant and or unknowledgeable to it?

please read the grade deflation threads---it's been beaten to death. It absolutely will not rule you out of certain grad schools. 98% of BU students who apply to law school get in somewhere and then number is also impressive for med school. Meanwhile, the average gpa for entering med school students is around 3.6, while the average gpa for entering med students from BU is 3.4. So other schools recognize the BU transcript and know that grades here are earned, not given.
