overall gpa less than test scores...any idea?

I am going to be a junior in the fall, and even if I do as well as I intend this year my GPA will seem leagues below my SAT scores. I attend a very challenging private school where students with 4.0 WEIGHTED GPAs get accepted to schools such as Stanford, Georgetown, and Brown. You only need a 3.6 with good EC's to get accepted to schools like Notre Dame and Vanderbilt. My cumulative GPA at the end of junior year should be about a 3.5. My GPA for junior year should be a 3.8. The reason for the gaps between my overall GPA and end of junior year GPA is because I didn't have it together during freshman year, and I got a few less than excellent (but not life ruining) grades during sophomore year. My test scores should honestly be exceptional (maybe not for CC, but for the rest of the world). I took the PSAT as a sophomore without any studying and scored in the top 96th percentile, with reading in the top 99th percentile based on raw talent. I have been informed that if I study for the SAT I should be able to clear the 2100 mark, and possibly reach a score in the 2200s. Based on my school's rampant grade deflation, curriculum difficulty, and my projected SAT scores which demonstrate my ability better but are still going to be better than my grades, what are my options from a solely academic point of view?

Uhm…you should never “plan” a GPA. Because **** happens yo.
Post back in a year and we’ll chance you then.

True ^
Once you have actual stats, its a lot easier to project

First, I think you’re doing a really smart thing by thinking about this as a junior.

Second, take the SATs early and often.

Third, do your best and let your GPA take care of itself. Show improvement each year and you have a good story to tell on your essay.
