Overarching 'moral'?

<p>Hi,
I am (still) working on my common app essay.</p>

<p>SO.. I have been doing a household job that would normally be taken care of by parents... and I am writing about that as my topic.</p>

<p>Does it need to have an overarching lesson, or can I just write 'this is what I did, etc.' ???</p>

<p>I'm sorry if this sounds confusing. Please let me know.</p>

<p>Well, I wouldn’t just write about an experience without some analysis of it. The point of the common app is to let colleges see what you’re like outside of academics and extra-curriculars. You want to show them who you are, what you’re like, what’s important to you, etc. Does your essay show that? If so, then you should be fine.</p>
