When you’re asked to write how you’ve overcome an obstacle personally or academically, what are they looking for? I haven’t had anything I can think of. I don’t have any health issues like ADD or ADHD, and I don’t have any academic issues either. Any ideas?
Have you ever wanted something but had an obstacle in your way so you could not reach your goal? What were your work arounds? Did you persist? Did you redirect or change your goals and how strategies to reach your goals. It’s not always about hardship. It can be about not being given a position you expected to get or it can be a obsticle to your friendship with someone etc.
Thank you both!
You don’t need to take the prompts literally- it’s not even limited to what we think of as an ordinary obstacle or road block. It might be simple, the time you encouraged others to change or tried something new, learned something, helped someone, rethought something, made a decision.
They want to see how you think, what you take on, how you evolved and your awareness. And keep it something relatively current and relevant to the attributes they look for in their class.
