Overcoming adversity - CHANCE ME!!

I was always a bright student but didn't put in a consistent effort during my Freshman and Sophomore years. This is going to hurt me, I know. C's in Physics (H) and Bio (H). Then B's in AP Environmental (took soph. year), Chem (H), English I (H) & English II (H), Alg2 (H).

I picked myself up and have shown that I do have brimming potential.

Objective:
• SAT I (breakdown): 2330 (retook, probably broke 2380+)
• ACT: none
• SAT II: 800 (Math II), 770 (Chem), 750 (US Hist.)
• Unweighted GPA (out of 4.0): 3.67 (pulled this up big time)
• Weighted GPA: 4.89
• Rank (percentile if rank is unavailable): Top 6% (from rank 290+ to Tops)
• AP (place score in parenthesis): Calc BC (5), US Gov (5), US History (5), Micro/Macro (5), Psychology (5), Comparative Gov (5)
• Junior Year Course Load:
-AP Calc AB
-AP Calc BC
-AP Micro/Macro
-AP US History
-AP US Gov
-AP Comparative
-AP Psychology
-AP European History
-University level foreign language (1 class, at state uni.)
-Honors English III.
~~I got all A's taking 8 AP's...even I don't know how this happened. Just superhuman :D
• Senior Year Course Load:
-AP Bio
-AP Chem
-AP Eng IV
-Multivariable Calc at University
-AP Statistics
-Honors International relations.
-University level Foreign language (2 classes, at state Uni.)
• Major Awards (USAMO, Intel etc.): National Merit Scholar commend, ExploraVision regional winner.

Subjective:
• Extracurriculars (place leadership in parenthesis): DECA Club (VP), Religious (President), Beta Club, Other service club, Speech and Debate (Officer), insert sport here, Track & Field
• Job/Work Experience: Tutoring

• Volunteer/Community service: ~ 400+ hours (like a boss). I am amazing at Interfaith and teaching religious stuff, which is my true passion.

• Summer Activities: Internship at Chemistry department at State university, summer courses, special foreign language and taking a religious class. Taught a class at my church and delivered sermons. Heavily involved in interfaith
• Essays: Excellent (wrote on my passions)
• Teacher Recommendation: Superb
• Counselor Rec: Good to Average (Don't know very well, she's doing like a billion recs)
• Additional Rec: None

Other
• State (if domestic applicant): Ultra secret
• Country (if international applicant): USA
• School Type: Competitive Public
• Ethnicity: South Asian
• Gender:M
• Income Bracket: 65K

I have done few extracurriculars, but I participated heavily in each. Interfaith is my true passion, as is religious studies.

I think I have a weakness for no science classes my junior year. I didn't want to take any because I took 3 the previous year (Chem H, Phys H, APES). Other than that, those C's definitely will kill me..but... where there's a will, there's a way :)

I am applying to Harvard, MIT (legacy), Caltech, Princeton, UPenn, Columbia, NYU Stern, Duke, UMich, UIC, UChicago, Berkeley, UCLA, Rice, Vanderbilt, Brown, Cornell and Stanford along with a few state schools. I know some of the Ivy's are a reach..but still..idk. Applying early to Harvard and to State school. CHANCES, ANYONE?

You can’t take AP Calc AB and BC at the same time. Also, all of the Ivies are big reaches (as they are for almost everyone). Same with MIT, Stanford, and Caltech. UChicago, Stern, Duke, UCLA, Rice, and Berkeley are high matches because of your grades.

What is your real weighted GPA (add 1 point for each Honors/AP)?

Also you got a 2330 (or 2380+) but no National Merit Semifinalist? And why take 3 science classes in sophomore year and none in junior year?

There are a bunch of strange things in this thread, the Calc AB and BC discrepancy most of all…

At our school we take Calc AB first semester, Calc BC second semester. Weighted GPA is 4.89; we weight 6 for AP, 5 for honors, 4 for academic. Yup, I missed NMSQT by a bit prior to taking the SAT which i studied the entire winter break for. 2330 is my superscore btw.

Took 3 sciences sophomore year because I was considering applying to a prestigious program but I lost hope and gave up…pretty much. Also, science was my weakest subject and not putting forth the effort was for the worst. So I took up my strengths by not taking any Junior year.

Wait a minute, what do you mean “Top 6% is from rank 290+ to Tops?” That would mean you have a class size of 4833 people…

No that was meant that I came up from rank 290 to top 6% (27 to be exact)
