Overdressing/Undressing/Being You/How do you dress?

Edit: Overdressing/ Under dressing/ Being You/ How do you dress?

I tend to overdress in college I like button downs, polo's, skirts, dresses, cardigans, sweaters, boots (with small heels), small heels (nothing too crazy) and boat shoes. Some people see this as overdressing, but this is how I feel comfortably. I've been told that I look better this way and that jeans+T's make me look strange. I like the way I dress, but I've also received some raised eyebrows at my state college.

How do you dress and how do people react?

I've seen people in class wearing PJ's, swats and t-shirts. If you feel comfortable wearing that then rock it! I've also met a guy who doesn't wear shoes, and he rocks that too.

I think my school dresses quite preppy overall. I’m a male and personally I wear jeans, khakis, sweatpants, shorts, t-shirts, polo-shirts, sweaters, hoodies, and running sneakers. Since my school tends to dress really well, I think I seem pretty casually dressed to most people.

I wear what feels comfortable. I was in a residential college so while I lived in the dorms, many of my classes would be in the same building I lived in. I took advantage of this and would wear sweats or other very comfortable clothes. If I had to go to another building, jeans and a shirt. Hoodie if it’s cold. Pretty typical of my campus.

There are plenty of people at my state university that dress like you. No raised eye brows afaik

At my school, people dress all kinds of different ways. Personally, I wear jeans when it’s cold out, and mainly cargo shorts in the summer. Mostly band t-shirts or nerdy type t-shirts(math/physics related generally). I’ll occasionally wear a button down shirt.

There are lots of preppier dressers here though. There are plenty of people that wear sweatpants most of the time. Lots of girls that wear yoga pants basically everyday.

I wear dresses and skirts almost exclusively. Many people consider me overdressed, but I wear what I’m comfortable in. Some of my professors have commented that the way I dress is more professional than other students- so it’s a win-win in my view.

I just wear what I’m comfortable with, unless there’s something going on that day that I’m supposed to dress a certain way for. This usually just means jeans and whatever shirt I feel like wearing that day, but sometimes that’ll change. I’ll throw a hoodie on if it’s cold, sometimes a light jacket in the spring.

I have to go to lab 3-4 times a week so I usually just wear shorts and a t-shirt with sleeves. When I get to lab, I change into jeans.

Dressing up has never been top priority for me.

bbbuuummmpppp

I look much more professional in well fitting dress shirts made from Egyptian cotton, wool dress pants, leather oxfords, and silk ties with monogrammed suit jackets when compared to students wearing flip flops, fashion inspired by MTV, etc.

Also get a pen made out of high grade metal such as aircraft aluminum or stainless steel. Stay away from plastic pens.

At my school, I mainly see tank tops, shorts, sundresses and jeans. Then again it is summer and temps here reach into the 100’s (and it is a large school, started life as an agricultural school). I wear jeans and tank tops and the occasional sun dress, personally I think the point is function over fashion at my school. I mean I would love to wear my clogs and black flared pants, but the eight flights of stairs I have to climb every day to music class says otherwise.

I dress according to season. In spring, summer, and early fall, I wear dresses, shorts, skirts, tank tops, sleeveless tops, and short-sleeved shirts. In winter, I’ll either wear long black pants or jeans, either a short sleeve or a long sleeve shirt depending on the weather, and a hooded jacket or sweatshirt.

You must have a little more money than I do.

I typically wear old worn out band t-shirts, and old worn out math/physics t-shirts, and rotate between 2 pairs of jeans and 2 pairs of shorts. I think I have like 6-7 pairs of socks as well. I’ve got one pair of shoes…some Etnies that are getting pretty worn out.

I don’t know. I think I look presentable enough most of the time. I don’t really understand that whole “dressing up and wearing a tie” to class mindset. Does it really benefit you in any way? Hell…I don’t even OWN a tie, nor could I afford to go out and buy one anytime soon. I need a new pair of shoes really bad, but I’ll probably continue to deal with the ones I’ve got for at least 3-4 more months.

I usually dress nicely for a guy. I normally wear khaki shorts or nice jeans, a nice polo or regular shirt, button up shirts, nice jackets or wool winter coats, and leather or converse shoes. Not to mention that I have this weird obsession with scarves and cardigans during the cooler months! lol On presentation days I wear grey slacks, a dark grey MK2 shirt from express, and nice shoes. I always feel weird in shorts and a T! Oh and never ever ever sweats - sweats are for lounging!

Although, this next semester I will be in nursing school, so I will be in scrubs all the time. I’m excited for scrubs - they’re just like pajamas!!! ;o)

I’m normally dressed more than most people at my uni. We have a huge amount of student athletes, so they’re always in sweats and hoodies.

@comfortablycurt,
some people find it more fun and functional to wear a tie and a button down rather than a T. Do what floats your boat.

I also think that @Thereisnosecret, is either very fashionable, rich or just a ■■■■■ :P

By the way, could we please discuss those college students in knee-high socks and sports sandals?

…Ugly!!!

I’ve never seen that before. I’ve seen ankle high socks before with sporty sandals, but that’s a typical sporty staple.
