overlaods/double majors

Does anyone have any idea of how many kids take overloads (for which you are charged, unlike schools like Columbia)? What if overloading is necessary for a double major (not some dual major which they have defined). How many people go more than 8 semesters to get what they want. I get the feeling that a getting a BFA along with another major is just about impossible in less than 10 semesters.

As far as overloads go, I can just say my student didn’t have any. With AP and some CC credit going in and two coops he is graduating in four years with one extra summer session. By the way, the semester count is tricky becauses with coops the students will go for summer sessions so I’m not sure if you are counting those or not. In other words, he went Fall/Spring, Fall/ coop Spring, summer classes, Fall, coop spring, summer class, Fall/spring and then one summer session at the end.

Getting a BFA as well as a BA or BS is very difficult because there isn’t that much overlap of required courses. However to double (not dual) in math and economics however, it’s not hard at all, especially if you come in with some credit.

Overloading is done, but I personally only know one person who has done it, and they took one night honors seminar while they were on a part-time co-op. Each four credit class is around 5k, so be sure you know what you’re getting into if you are certain you want to overload. Also advisors require good grades, etc before they will sign off on it.
