Overlap between two extra curriculars

Hello,

Last year, I have participated as a member of student council and the schools math competiton club.
This year, however, the dates and times for the two overlap.
I would like to go to premed or biology in university.

Which extra curricular will be a better usage of the limited time I have ?

Thank you so much

Whichever you prefer.

My best friend is running for student council as well, and he seems really desperate.
I don’t prefer one over the other, but will it be viewed negatively if I participate in student council one year but suddenly not the following year?

Solely in the context of college applications, being a member of the student council is a “weaker” EC unless you are an officer and can demonstrate that the student council at your school actually did something beneficial for the school and/or community and that you were an integral part of it. On the other hand, how do you do in math competitions? Even if you didn’t “win” any competitions, what are the prospects of doing so your junior/senior year? How else do you contribute to the team?

More importantly though, which activity do you enjoy more and find more fulfilling. You say you don’t have a preference, are you being totally honest with yourself? High school should be much more than trying to maneuver for college. Funny thing, doing things you enjoy which challenge you mentally and grow you socially usually puts you in the best position for college.

The math competition club is slightly better if you do not have an officer position in student council

what grade r u in?
i would do math bc its more interesting and i would try to get good accomplisment in it- AIME qualifier and try to get leadership

I’m a rising sophomore
