<p>i was the chair of an organising comm for a huge community service event in my high school. My long essay will be focused on community service, which will naturally have a lot of references to the event.</p>
<p>However, i wld also like to highlight my leadership role in the event under my EC short essay.</p>
<p>Will the repetition put off adcoms?</p>
<p>The “repetition” will not affect your application package. Colleges favour their own supplement essays anyway. With that said, I really do not see any reason for such a repetition – I am sure you have at least two equally good topics to talk about (remember, you only have ~150 words for the EC “essay”). It would be a lot smarter if you write about different events: You would have one fewer reason to blame yourself should you not be accepted by a school.</p>
<p>You have under 1500 words in most cases to let the committee know all they will about you, why would you repeat anything?</p>
