Students,, please answer if you can:

If S wants to sign up for say a program that is considered a full course load (like PLC) or say he want to sign up for 3 full classes - we'll just make some up, say Calc, Physics and a comp sci course. But he also wants to do music (performance ensembles are 1/6 unit for 2 terms - so 1/12 for the term but the course runs 2 terms - at least that is how I read it)
is that an overload? How does it work? Would he have to drop one of the full credit courses to take the music performance class to not be on overload? And if so, then he is paying for a full course load but not getting full course credits. Anyone know the answers?

according to 09-10 catalog 2 1/6 units per semester is not considered OVERLOAD,
so go for it~~
that’s what i want to do too

Per semester ( 2 terms ) he can take 7 courses, or 2 units and 1/3. Physical Education courses are not considered as overload, as far as I am know. So, if he wants to overload he can take for example 3 courses of 1/3 in A term and 4 courses in B term, and that is still 2 units and 1/3. With taking calc, physics and cs, he will have 2 units, so he can take any course without paying a fee as long as that course(courses) dont exceed 1/3 of a unit. In the case of performance ensembles, I think that he should be fine. I am not sure if they are 1/12 or 1/6 per term, but in both cases he wont exceed 1/3. Further, if he wants to take more course per semester then 2 1/3, he has to pay around 1500$ per 1/3 of a unit.

thanks
that explains how it can be done
