Is anyone else going?

I registered and am pretty sure I’m going, I just need to get the okay from school to miss Monday.

In the same boat…it sounds like a lot of fun, though.

Yeah I’m really hoping I get to go. The one aspect of Mount Holyoke I’m not sold on is the social life, so I’m hoping the overnight could shed some light on that.

I did an overnight with the Focus on Athletics and absolutley loved it. Its probably a different social life than you would find at a large state school or many other schools, because people don’t go out and party all the time or anything–or at least that was my understanding/impression. They seemed to have a lot of fun enjoying each others company, just hanging out, and being fairly laid back. I know for me, that is a little more what I am looking for, so I think the social life is good. But, I know that that kind of activity is not for everybody! I hope you like it, though.

I heard that there isn’t much of a party scene on the MHC campus, but thanks to the five colleges in the FCC being in a relatively close-ish radius of each other its easy to go and join their party scenes and still be able to return to a nice, chilled out campus at MH for the night :D

^ is what I’ve heard, which is how I like it. I just want to get a feel for what the girls are like and if I would fit in.

I’d like to go but the plane flights are so expensive from CA… ugh. And I don’t want to have to miss school, and I’m sure my parents would appreciate not missing work. We’ll see.

Social scene? Hmmm. U Mass with approx 27,000 students is a short bus ride away. If
that State U is anything like the one I work at way down South, then, plenty is
popping 7 days per week. A student must be selective balancing academics with
the social scene. It would seem the Mount Holyoke/Smith student could pick
and choose a best fit social scene.

Just my .02 David

ps-- How long does it take to get to a nice beach on the Atlantic?

Nearest beaches would be on the Cape about 2.5 hours away. That is on the Atlantic. CT and RI closer but you’re talking Long Island Sound.

^ I live on the beach about a half hour south of Boston, it’s a little less than 2 and a half hours and I think it’s about the same to Newport and the RI beaches.

Cranjack – if it’ll help, I’ll take notes and pictures to share with you? I come from CA and the flights are so pricy. I’d be happy to report back with everything possible.

That’d be greatly appreciated MissGen!!! It would be awesome to hear your opinions on everything and I’d love to have a fellow Californian’s perspective especially because I’ve only been to the East Coast once. Thanks so much for the offer!!

The thing of it is you don’t have much time to go to the beach and Sept-May isn’t ideal beach weather in New England. :D

Not a problem! You don’t deserve to be kept out because of distance/money. I’ll get as much as I can for you. Did you have anything in particular that you really wanted to know about?

@cranjack, I am from California too! I applied as a transfer student (haven’t heard back yet, but apparently, anytime!) and went to visit in January. I was able to experience snow, and took many pictures. It actually snowed the night before, and was beautiful blue skies with fresh snow everywhere when I visited MHC. It really captures how beautiful it truly is, especially being from California where everything is styled much differently. I know it’s not the same, especially as pictures from the spring, but let me know if you’d like me to email you some of my pictures from mid-January post snowing Or if you’d like some additional perspective from a Californian visiting New England. Although it wasn’t my first time on the east coast, it was my first visit to New England “proper” and first visit to Mass.

I’m from California also! I probably won’t be able to do the overnight visit, but I’m going to try to make it out in a couple of weeks during my spring break.

Look at all these Californians! I didn’t realize so many of you were from here, and so kind!

@MissGen: There’s nothing in particular that I need to know about but let me know how the equestrian center is if you go to see it :)

@vegancookies: I’d love to see the pics you took! I’ll send you a PM. And good luck on hearing on your decision! I’m hoping it’s an acceptance :)

@penguin369: That’s great that you’ll be able to visit still, even though it’s not for the overnight event. Let me know how you like it!

I’m trying to work this out in my schedule-but I return from Spain on the 20th! The intense jet-lag plus a week of vacation might not be the best combination… But I’m from CT so I can easily arrange another overnight experience, I just want to meet the rest of the class!

Btw, can someone add me into the facebook group? My first name is Elizabeth…

Okay! I didn’t sign up for the equestrian center tour but I still want to see it – I like horses but I’m not competitive. If I get to see it, I’ll come back with as many pictures and stuff as possible.

Yayyy Californians! <3 Whenever friends from CA come down to visit, they’re always like “There are so many trees!”
