Overnight Guests at Lehigh

What is the policy? Do guests have to be over 18? How many nights can they stay? What are the rules about gender?

Maximum 3 nights with permission of your room mate and Gryphon.

Lehigh has one of the most lax guest policies ever. I’ve heard stories of people housing townies in their rooms for days on end with no one noticing. You don’t have to sign guests in nor do you have to check with your Gryphons on whether they can stay with you. So no, they don’t have to be over 18 and they really can stay however long you want. As for gender, I don’t think that’s an issue either. Maybe for halls divided by gender it might be an issue but I doubt it. (Or maybe CHOICE has other rules). Really the only thing you have to do with guests is swipe them into the dining hall/buildings.

mum – I don’t know who told you that (maybe it’s where your son lives). My gryphons said they don’t care at all, I’ve never checked with them when having guests stay.

Permission of room mate and limit of 3 nights is in the housing contact you sign, permission of Gryphon is not required by contract, but in my son’s case, is a request of his Gryphon so he can ensure the 3 day limit is not exceeded.

I had my girlfriend at the time come twice last semester.

She stayed for at least 3 nights.

Gryphon does not check, there is no check in. It’s very lax.

haha well looks like it is pretty loose! As a parent though, I hope that if you are planning on an extended stay that you work things out with your room mate as that is their home also! :)

Good! I will be entering the freshman class and my boyfriend goes to kutztown. I was hoping he could stay for the weekends! (with my room mates permission of course!)

I wish you the best of luck. It’s extremely hard to do distance relationships. Mine fell apart.
