Overnight Host Program - sign up?

The "guest" sign up form found on the OHP page.. that's for the applicants right? not "guests" we're bringing along? ;) just want to clarify
so we just submit that and mail in the waiver and bring $15?

thanks in advance :)

(sorry for mildly incoherent nature of post, i'm rather excited at the moment)

Yes, the form on the website is for interviewees; you are correct. Glad to hear you’re coming on OHP!

i remember doing that last year.. haha

On a side note–is Zachary’s pizza really that good? My family is coming to town from LA this weekend and they want to eat there. Is the atmosphere like blondie’s or is it a sit-down place like Round Table…

It’s sit down. There are plenty of arguments as to how good Zachary’s is. I personally feel it depends on how much you like tomatoes. Their deep dish pizzas are like pies filled with a chunky tomato sauce with cheese and toppings. It’s good, but I personally prefer a good thin crust pizza.

How do you get to do the overnight host program?

Is there a deadline to sign up for them??
Or should we just send it ASAP because seats might fill up quickly..?

Are they providing transportation?

For some reason, I can’t find the answers to these questions on the website, or maybe I’m just not looking hard enough, lol.

basically, what happens is you find the alumni house (i think thats what its called), next to Haas pavillion, and then they take care of you from there.
Does anyone know where we can sign up as hosts? lol

Zachary’s is the best pizza on earth. eudean is right about the tomatoes, though, if you aren’t into diced tomatoes, you won’t like it. I recommend spinach/mushroom or chorizo special. We take EVERYONE who comes from out of town to Zachary’s.

sorryyy guys, the cheese board > zachary’s. most berkeley natives tend to agree.

and re: ohp…highly recommend, especially if you haven’t visited the campus before. it’s just a lot of fun, and really just a nice way to relax, take a day out of classes, and unwind from all that college app stress.

do you have to be a potential regent’s scholar to go to the ohp?

another question,

the ohp webpage mentions a schedule for the night students arrive for ohp, but it doesn’t mention a timetable for the next day (since it is, after all, “overnight”). what is the schedule for that second day? also if the student goes on april 11 (which is a friday), does s/he miss out on attending a class at berkeley because april 12 is a saturday?

thanks in advance! :)

April 12th is Cal day so there won’t be classes but there is a TON of other stuff going on instead. You could, however, just show up earlier on friday and peak into a class if you want.

farahe: yes, rcsa members only host potential candidates. ohp specifically is only for regents interviewees.

dt_: there isn’t really a timetable for the second day. if i remember correctly, there was a reception sort of thing at the i-house, and people went to their interviews afterward. other than that, we were free to do whatever we wanted.
