Overnight Host Program

Should I sign up for the day before or after the interview? Can anyone with past experience tell me tell me which arrangement is more convenient?
Also please give some tips in general about OHP and what's the most productive way to spend one day at Cal?

sign up asap, it'll fill up quick. it's fun, you get to see a lot of Berkeley, and this year it's on 420, so it could be fun. the one on 420 is before cal day, so that'll be cool.
the OHP is different from the one i was on which was OSP, for the alumni scholarship. the only drag was that you couldn't really hang out with your host. They paired us up at like...1130 at night, I woulda been down to meet them in the afternoon so that we could see Berkeley nightlife more independently,...less....touristy. But it's worth it especially if you're not sure about coming to cal. I was already sure I was coming, so I just wanted to go out and socialize.

what is OHP? what are you interviewing for?

I had lots of fun last year at OHP--it's really nice being able to miss a day of school to just hang out and wander around the school and just imagine your life for the next four years. I'd highly recommend it.
wecandothis: OHP is a program that accompanies the Regents' interview.

do you recommend OHP on the day before or after the interview?

OHP is indeed fun. If you live with the more outgoing students, they will bring you to fun places :D

I assume that there are no parties on a Wednesday or Thursday night, am i correct?

it's college homie, there's parties everynight if you know the right people. Thursday's a fraturday, so you have the chance. If not pm me and i'll hook you up

For many students, the weekend begins on Thursday. Many students work around their classes so they don't have Friday classes.

actually, i found out that OHP is only on mon, tue, wed.

Actually the letter (inside scholarship packet) says that they have OHP on thursday, friday, and saturday on the following dates: March 5, 6, 7, 12, 13, 14, and April 20.

umm, take a look at the calendar, besides april 20, the day before cal day, all others are Mon-Wed.

LOL oops. I was looking at my April calendar. Yea you are right. Btw say if I attend OHP on March 20. That means that I will stay that night (march 20) and be able to attend CAL day the following morning (March 21) right? Just trying to confirm things here.

Back in the days when I was still a senior in high school, I was only aware of the OHP for the weekend of Cal Day.

There are a couple of different "Overnight Host Programs," so answers change depending on which group you're a part of. You're probably talking about the Regents and Chancellors Overnight Host Program, but there is also a program sponsored by the Incentive Awards Program (also called OHP), a program sponsored by the Alumni Association for alumni scholars (called the Overnight Stay Program), and then "Senior Weekend" which also includes an Overnight Host Program (Senior Weekend includes Bridges Senior Weekend and the Overnight Host Program). Each has its own dates and sign-up rules. Regardless of which one it is, you should try to participate if you were invited. It's a great way to get to visit the campus and hang-out with some current students.

If I'm interviewed in LA, do I still get the chace of doing the overnight program?
