overnight stays anyone?

Has anyone stayed overnight at Wes lately?? How was it? what did you do?

I second the question. Anybody able to answer?

I didn't, but someone from my school did. I heard something about brownies.

Anywho, whether or not the details of her visit were facetious, I'm pretty sure she had a rockin' & stayin' up late kinda time. It convinced her to apply ED.

I didn't stay overnight cause the tour was enough to convince me that I want to go to Wesleyan (and I will be in August, huzzah).

you

lucky

bastard

:D

If i get accepted, I was probably gunna do one of these...

Do they ever show you anything ... academic?

Or is it purely a bunch of fun?

I DID!!!

I went to a class on Russian lit and stayed with my best friend. It was fabulous. Now only a few more weeks till I find out if I got in EDII.

During the overnight stays, the admissions office pairs you with a random freshman or sophomore (usually a freshman) and lets you sleep on the floor of their room. The students are given no instructions about what to do with you - this is not a tour - it's just chilling at Wesleyan for a day with a real life normal student and seeing what it's like (what it's like, by the way, is awesome).

man I wish i didn't live in Texas...I have to be accepted before I can stay overnight!!!! Grrr.

I stayed with a friend so it was a little different, but still fabulous.

TRY TRY TRY to come on a thursday night. You get the thursday night parties and the friday classes. The best of both worlds.

Do not come on a Sunday. Everyone is cranky and doing their last-minute homework.

i just came back from an overnight. I stayed overnight from friday to saturday. However, what ishuku said is true. My host had said the best time to come would be a thursday night if your looking for fun at night and then classes in the morning. I am a softball recruit so my stay there would be a little different than that of a regular student. Part of my stay involved a scrimmage and basically meeting only athletes (since that's who my host was friends with). Overall everyone really should do an overnight. They're a lot of fun and gives a real feel for the school. I know that these visits can make or break your decision. You may fall in love with a school just from reading pamphlets and taking a tour, but when u actually get there you may wind up finding that this school may not be right for you. It has happened to me (i am not going to name the school though, but i can tell you that it is not wesleyan). Anyway, my stay at Wesleyan was awesome, so definitely arrange a visit!

do they take you to parties?

I know I'm getting ahead of myself... I don't know if I'll be accepted... but is Wesfest as cool as it sounds?

WesFest is COOLER than it sounds. They say that it's hyper-Wesleyan: everything that goes on in a semester goes on in a single weekend. It also happens to be over 4/20. Do with that as you will.

God Jumble_j Just Stop Posting! I Don't Want To Know Any Other Amazing Stuff About Wesleyan Unless I Get Accepted And You Are Seriously Driving Me Crazy! ;)

Sorry about that!

Please don't stop jumble. Your posts are really helpful. Another question: For live music venues not on campus, is New Haven the best bet? Any other place nearby have decent clubs?

Yeah, New Haven, or the Northampton MA area.

Also, obviously, NYC and Boston.

There are a lot of other colleges within a couple hours driving distance of Wes, so there are a lot of really great bands regularly within striking distance.

I'm kidding really. The more personal info you give me about the school, the more I love it. I have an interview coming up (transfer applicant) - any recommendations? I'm guessing I'll wear black stripe pants (kinda dress up but more casual than church clothing) and a white button up.

If you're coming to campus, you'll have a senior interviewer, who obviously won't care what you're wearing. As long as you don't come naked/in a gross sweatshirt/otherwise looking like a drunk on a bender, you'll be fine. That said, nice clothing can give a good impression. What you suggested sounds totally fine. You just want to look somewhat presentable-- it's obviously not a formal interview or a formal school in general.
