Overnight visits? Or only for admitted students?

D has applied RD. Rochester is currently one of the top schools on her list and although we have visited, I'd like her to go spend a night there, stay in the dorms, attend classes and get a better idea if this is the school for her. Are these overnight visits permitted? Or are they reserved for admitted students only? Thanks.

arisamp… Great idea. Students can gain particularly valuable insight by spending the night on campus. Overnights are permitted to prospective students, but we ask that you call the office two weeks in advance of your visit so that we can identify a student host. We also limit overnight stays to Sunday-Thursday nights. Friday and/or Saturday night visits are rarely permitted.

D signed up online for an overnight visit. It’s been about 10 days so far - she hasn’t received any confirmation emails. Should she just assume that the visit is on as requested? She needs to make travel arrangements, she’s headed there in about two weeks.

Personally, I’d call the admission office. Admissions is a heck place right now and it’s possible things got misplaced

As a mom, I know I’d feel more comfortable knowing that everything is in place at UR’s end before I started making travel arrangements.

I agree. Calling is usually the best way to get things cleared up.

Thanks. She did hear back from the coordinator the same day I posted here. Figures, right? She’s all excited about this overnight - I am keeping my fingers crossed that all goes well and she is as thrilled with the school when she gets back as she is now!

We usually try to pair prospective students with current students that share similar interests. Most of the students that volunteer to host are quite outgoing and friendly, so I hope your daughter is able to learn a lot about the school and have some fun in the process.
