Has anyone accepted EA gone to Notre Dame and stayed overnight with a student? What was that like? I got the acceptance packet today, and it said that is a great way to experience the school. I was just wondering about people's experiences with this program

I did it last year and i solidified my decision and i know that it made other people’s decisions a lot better.

basically you get there in the afternoon or evening - maybe go to some classes - go to dinner, hang out with your host and friends, go to sleep, get up and go to more classes - you basically just follow your host around and s/he can show you some stuff if you ask, etc.

if you have any questions, PM me, i am a student host so I know what to expect.

It’s a wonderful way to experience the school, and my son really got a feel for the Notre Dame experience on the overnight. He got to stay in a dorm room where two people live in relatively cramped conditions. You sleep on the floor in a sleeping bag, and pray that neither of your temporary roommates has a bladder problem. However, the experience was great, and my son was able to see that he could fit in first hand (once he gets a bed of his own, that is), and that’s critical. The entire campus that night headed over at midnight for 50 cent cheeseburgers, or something like that, while I slept peacefully at the Morris Inn. The students were very supportive, the cheeseburgers, according to my son, were plentiful and delicious, and he loved the school. Now, financially, if we can swing it, he’d be there in a heartbeat. Still waiting on financial aid. I say, you owe it to yourself to experience Notre Dame on an overnight. There’s no better way to get to know the school, and the students you’ll be spending the next four years with.

I am happy to hear about the good experiences - this is what i usually hear about (though sometimes people have futons to sleep on lol)

Balthezar-keep us posted! Hope things work out for your son. And your description hit it right on the mark, for guys at least!
