Overrated Colleges as of 2006

Most over-rated is kind of meaningless. Does it really matter where a school is on some arbitrary list with a range of, say, 15?
Under-rated could be more interesting/useful, though under-recognizd might be a more apt phrase.

Mmm, I think knowing which colleges are overrated can be very useful. You might have students matriculating at a college they thought was good only to discover that it actually has some serious problems.

Now, to accurately measure which colleges are indeed overrated...is another story.

Yes DRab, you are pretty weird! You really need to learn to curb your loyalty for your school. Take me for example. I am complitely neutral when it comes to Michigan...stone cold! LOL

public kids are biased 'cause they're mad they can't go to a private. some berkeley kids are mad 'cause they got into top privates and can't pay or they got rejected. now they have to attend cal. just look at sansai. obviously she's mad about not getting top privates like harvard and stanford and now must lie online to justify her choice at BERKELEY.

HOW SAD.

can't we just all be friends...

private kids are mad they paid about 20k more per year for the same amount of education they'll receive as public kids and that they'll be earning the same starting salary as anybody else who went to a normal public university.

no offense nyu man, Cal is just as good if not better than NYU

if anything, the californians that go to NYU are probably shaking thier heads now, realizing they are spending thousands of more dollars on NYU when it's as big and impersonal as most public schools.

Isn't NYU ranked lower than Cal on US News (which is undergrad anyways)

and princeton's higher than harvard, what's ur point. and cal places horribly on the east coast. ur cheap education ain't gonna get u there.

Sternman87 is obviously upset that he goes to the most overrated school in the country. The funny thing is that NYU is ranked in the high 20s or 30s as is, yet its still way overrated.

Don't be mad I'll be at Wall St.

I don't think you can separate the University of California undergraduate education from the graduate education. I remember being given the opportunity to take graduate level courses when I was at Berkeley. I think that's what makes it such a fantastic university. You get access to both undergraduate and graduate courses if you qualify. I took graduate courses in three different departments. I believe I got a superb education.

^Well, I'm sure that's the case with many universities. Why don't we just use the graduate rankings for undergrad colleges then, hm?

It's really, really uninformed to say things such as "public kids are biased 'cause they're mad they can't go to a private." Many, many kids look at both, and many pass up one to go to the other for many reasons.

Could you talking about Berkeley placement into businesses- what do you know of it? How much overstatement is in your "horribly?" And if Berkeley places horribly (and it seems you're really just talking about Haas anyway), then there are probably only about 35 schools that do not place "horribly" on the East coast, and many who place really, really, really horribly.

I am not mad I "couldn't go to a private" because, well, I could have (USC and Cornell). Actually, I chose Berkeley because of a slightly better financial aid package than was offered at Cornell.

And in response to the OP, I feel like mentioning NYU once again.

"Don't be mad I'll be at Wall St."

As a janitor?

I had an intern there last summer. What'd you do, retake summer school for your TTT college? Don't cry, we can't all attend prestigious schools.

"What'd you do, retake summer school for your TTT college?"

Really? That's all you've got? Here, I'll give you a break. Why don't you take a few more hours and really mull over a better comeback.

*I had an intern there last summer. *

You had an internship in the janitorial office? Ouch.

omfg ur so funnie.
