Christine,

Arrogance is just a cover for insecurity. They may have felt nervous and were just
crowing to make themselves feel bigger. Forget the obnoxious people and think about how you felt being on campus, in classes, etc.

Cpq1xtbu,

Same goes for a few of the moms. This is a pretty tense time, and it doesn’t bring
out the best in everyone. I’ve met some wonderful Rice moms through this list and
on campus. And I agree, the Rice kids I’ve gotten to know are nothing short of wonderful!

Good luck to both of you!

Ottoline-
Most of the parents I met were great and I really enjoyed talking with them. There were just a few that I could imagine from their comments might be parents of the students Christine mentioned.

Christine - prospies attend Owl Days to see if Rice feels like the place to be for the next four years. Some of those braggarts will decide that Rice is NOT the place to be, and will go elsewhere. If you like the existing student body at Rice, you can feel confident that you like the student body next year. Students attending Owl Days are SHOPPING to find fit. Look at the existing student body, because approx. 2/3 of the accepted students will NOT attend Rice for various reasons. ;)

Yeah, the arrogant students you described don’t seem like they actually want to go to Rice. And I hope they don’t. =]

I kinda wish i went…

^Yep you missed out… =[

It’s ok blueducky, if you come to Rice you get to have it all for four years! Trust me Owl Days is fun, but it’s more fun being a student here.

^I wanted to come, but Rice gave me no aid whatsoever. I appealed it (apparently they didn’t consider the fact that my mom hasn’t been working for the past 7 months) but I don’t know if they can get the financial aid package before May 1st.

I’m sorry, I hope everything works out for you.

Christine,
Try going to admit days at any other school. Those 5-8 kids sound like 90% of Blue Devil Days prospies.

Thanks all!
I definitely feel much better about the school! I REALLY liked the current students, so I guess my future classmates in '13 will also be awesome!!

We will be all that - and then some :)
