owls!

hi there! i'll be applying ed at rice for fall 2009, and i'll be visiting next thurs+fri (sept. 25/26) to do my on-campus interview! i haven't been to houston in almost 6 years already...and i now live in cali, so if you owlies have any suggestions on where to go/what to do/what to see/etc. i'd really appreciate them!

oh also, my interview is thurs. morning, so i'll have the whole day free after 12...i couldn't reserve an overnight stay because there weren't any spots yet, so are there any night-time suggestions on where to go on campus/things to see? on friday i'm doing the student lunch, info session, class visits, AND campus tours so i'm pretty busy that day...

thanks everyone :]

I had a visit in August and the info session/tour takes like a maximum of 3 hours. After that i hung out at the Rice Bookstore and down at the pub. If you do go, Hang around at the pub and get a "vibe" or feeling how its like

well you are going to be at Rice during families weekend so there will be a lot going on. if you look online you can probably find a schedule of all sorts of activities.

yeah i just figured that out! it will be madnessss! so many people right?

yea there should be a lot of people. it's going to be a lot of fun and it will be really easy to find things to do that your parents won't feel weird going to because everyone's parents will be there. too bad you can't stay for the weekend when the best stuff is happening

It may not be too crowded, since Ike will have changed some parent's travel plans. Austin still has the highway signs flashing something like: "Do not travel to Houston or Beaumont. Limited fuel and resources..."

We have those signs in south Texas also. H traveled to Houston on Thursday and said traffic was very light.

Oh man I hope I don't annoy admin offices by showing up and like, doing visitors stuff... ha.

You're not annoying anyway to show up. Rice is back to normal and they have a number of tours/info sessions scheduled during the week. They'll be happy to have you.

thanks susan! :) i'm soooo excited! it's going to be hard sleeping on wednesday night :P
