Ok, so I have been browsing the forums lately and I have noticed that alot of people have started their own business in high school. I've always kind had an interest in owning my own business and recently I've really been getting serious about it. What kind of businesses do you guys run. I know that they are not like giganitc or anything but I have seen more than one person on ere with there own business.

Ok..................................... What does that have to do with anything I just said?

at my school, majority of them are web design/programming or computer/car repair. in most of the cases you figure out the thing you do good and enjoy doing, and then figure out the way to make money from it.
PS sorry about the earlier post by the way, wrong tab :o

Oh, Oh that's OK. I was kind of thinking of starting my own lawn care service with a couple of buddies of mine. Would this be too hard? Also, what grade were these people in because I don't have an idea of when I shoiuld start. I don't want people to think that I am too young.

anything will work really if you have customers and some idea of what you're doing. and this shouldnt, be very hard if you take it serious enough and think things through.
i dont think that a lot of people would think you guys are too young, many parents make their kids do stuff like that when they're like 10. besides, there will be people that will think you're too young for some things until you're done with college so theres nothing really you can do about it :) the people i know are mostly 10 through 12 grade.

I was thinking about starting a lawn care business, too and I'm only 13.

lawn care business, lol why the fancy name, just say cutting grass. Anyways cutting grass is kinda difficult when you're not old enough to drive, because it sdifficult to travel long distances with all that equipment and if you can't go further than you're block then you're not capitalizing on the market.

Yea, I'm 13 too and I was thinking about the driving...

I could walk and my mom said she'd drive me. :)

Dude, Jonathon K.! Do you have a membership on lawnsite.com? That's freakin' awesome if you do! I go on there all the time.

Yeah, I do. I just signed up today asking for tips. lol.

Also, go to http://www.youngentrepreneur.com/forum/ . It's really helpful.

Lawn care would be good, but would be challenging at 13 unless you live in a big neighborhood. About 5 years ago & guy & a couple friends started their own lawn lawn care business & it's still in existance today & sounds like business is going well

Do you know how much they're charging?

I was thinking like $10 per lawn, but in lawn forums they were saying, "No...no.. charge like $35."

I think I'm going to charge $15 - $20 for each lawn. So I'd end up getting $30 - $40 per house per week. If I get ten houses, I'd get up to $400 per week which would be awesome.
