Hi,

I currently live in Irvine, California, but I have Indian citizenship and a green card. I have gone to school my whole life her and I want to attend Oxford especially, for biology or medicine. I heard about some special tests you must take to qualify as a U.S. person, but the Oxford website wasn't really clear. Could someone clarify?

I’m on my phone, so can’t really find the link instantly, but you’re probably referring to something like BMAT / UKCAT / TSA

There is no special test for US citizens or residents. Some subjects do have specific tests (medicine, history, etc.), and all applicants have to take it.

There is a great site called the student room which has everything you need to know, and lots of helpful people on it. However, you will get flamed if you don’t do a little homework first, so spend some time nosing around the site before posting.

Be aware that Oxford (and all of the UK unis) typically only takes a couple of non-UK residents a year in medicine. This relates to the clinical part of the training, for which each uni is allocated only a small number of places for non-UK students. fwiw, Ireland is rather more flexible on that front.

Otherwise, your citizenship and/or residency only matter for setting fees.

Good luck!
