Oxford and Cambridge

Can I just enquire. What do Cambridge and Oxford look for academically?

I know they care about your A Level results, and GCE's. However, if someone didn't do GCE's, would they care about the other grades the person acheived in the school itself.

What I mean to ask is really: Do they look at your school test/ exam scores, if there is a national exam you take ultimately (A levels)

They don't look at any classwork. It's only A Levels, GCSE's, IB, APs etc.

Thank you so much. I was like worried, because in that case, the whole not-so-good-school + better grades VS great school and average grades discussion comes up.

What else do they look for. For someone applying for law, are there any like good subjects to take?

For Law:
English Literature, History, Maths, Economics, Sociology, Physics

Also, grades are not the only criteria -- your personal statement and interview are VERY important.

ah...okay then. Cheers

If anyone has any other information on previous experiences at Cam/ Oxford, just let me know in this thread k! I'll appreciate it loads

In order to even stand the minutest chance of getting an offer you need to be getting the highest grades possible. I'm not sure what your doing in school? APs? IB? A Levels?

I was wondering this too actually. I've only seen threads for int'ls applying to American schools, not the opposite. I'm curious as to how an American student can be the best applicant for a school like Oxford/Cambridge.

I'm not American. I'm not British either, but I'm taking A levels (not the British system), it's a very recognized A levels course

If you haven't already guessed, I'm from Singapore

Take loads of AP's and get 5's in all of them. I'm guessing AP's are the closes approximation to A-levels, and you need really perfect grades to get in. They don't care about academic record/ecas much, but you need an immaculate AP record in decent courses =P Then a great interview.

They don't care about extracurriculars at ALL. There is no space on the application for them, and they explcitly state that they do not review extracurricular activities.

Any applicant can include EC's in their personal statement and they will be seen. It's just that theres no special place in the application to fill out ECs.
