Oxford at Emory ED2 Chances

School:
- Rigorous course load. Half my classes have always been AP or Honors. This is the most I could take because of my world language.
-3.24 recalculated GPA. This is low because of my freshman year(3 Cs and 1 D). Sophomore year until now my Oxford GPA is a 3.46. Last 2 trimesters I made a 3.58 and a 3.65 UW (not Oxford GPA) at my school.
-30 ACT
-Senior year I'm taking AP ECON, AP GOV, AP Lit&COMP, Honors Pre-calc, Physics and French 5
-3.319 UW GPA, Top 25-30% of my class.

ECS:
- Job for 2 months during Junior year
- Started Multiple businesses throughout high school(wrote about it in essay)
- Have been self employed as a Freelancer sine Junior year.

Other:
-Wrote a very good common APP essay.
-My why Oxford/Emory essay is very good as well
-Upward trending GPA
- 2 Good letters of Recommendation. One from an AP teacher, one from my honors lit teacher for 2 years.

Other Other:
State: MN
High School Type: Public. Sends about 8 Kids to our flagship. Maybe 5-6 to other top schools.
Income: <40k for family of 6. Dad has a Master's and my mom has an associate's.
Hooks: URM

Admissions are a luck of the draw type of thing. I know valedictorians with 2400 and 4.0 get denied from Emory, and 3.0 gpa’s get into Emory instead. That being said, I would say your chances are on the lower end of the spectrum. I think you could have made a very good case for yourself in your essays (especially the Why Emory essay), that Essay is critical to the admissions department because they want to find the students who are applying to Emory for the right reasons, not because they think they can get in and want to add another option to their list.

I think the Why Emory essay can make or break a application so if yours fails to do your vision of “Why Oxford” then I would say your most likely going to be denied. If you did an excellent job then anything is possible! Again admissions are a luck of the draw so nothing I say means anything if your reader is just having a “bad day” or a good one on that thought.
