Oxford College Applicants?

Oxford doesn't even have its own section on CC so.. is anyone here applying to Oxford@Emory? I know I am..

Seriously? Nobody?

just curious, are you doing both emory and oxford or just oxford?

Both. Is there any particular reason people are NOT applying to Oxford?

well, I can't really speak for everyone else, but I'm not doing Oxford because I really don't want to be on such a small campus.

I don't mind the small campus so much. Plus, it's a good option if other places don't work out.

I'm not applying because I really don't like the area surrounding Oxford (not much going on). Also, Emory College offers a more geographically diverse group of people and more classes I'd like to take.

I can definitely see how somebody else would love Oxford for many of the same reasons I don't like it, though.

I am! Or rather, I'm in to Oxford. I'm not sure if I want to attend, though. I do know that if I attend Emory, I would rather go through Oxford. I wanted the small-college experience, at least to start out with.

Just as a warning SolaCatella: I live in Covington, which is right beside tiny Oxford, and the coolest thing within 5 miles of Oxford is Krystal's. This area is a good place to raise a family, I guess, but definitely not a college-friendly town. It can be easy to idealize a small college in a small town, but I'd think after a while, reality would set in that the area is kinda dead. Definitely check out the surrounding area before making a choice.

Maybe familiarity breeds contempt, but the vast majority of teenagers around here are itching to get out to somewhere a bit more developed.

Thanks for the tip--I'll make sure I do that before I decide for sure. I don't really mind a general lack of things to do usually, though--I'm the sort whose idea of a fun weekend is curling up with a nice book. Getting out and going out on the town isn't something I do or am longing to do as a matter of course.
