Hey,

I was wondering why people choose to apply Oxford College. When would it be appropriate to apply there?? Do you miss out on any opportunites at Emory or anything? I guess my question is.

WHAT ARE THE DISADVANTAGES of attending OXFORD COLLEGE..?

Brother transferred out after one year - Emroy in a year wasn't worth the pain of going there another year. I have heard nothing but bad things and I personally know about 20 Oxford people.

Hey slipper, is it possible to transfer out of oxford after one year to Emory? Is it like insanely hard or something?

Its pretty much impossible. My brother transferred to UNC-CH. In fact I highly recommend transferring there. Out of state applicants get in state preference as transfers so its one of the easiest top schools to get into as a transfer. Oxford seemed lke one of the worst college experiences out there. My brother is 300 times happier at UNC.

what were your bros stats after 1st year.

He had a 3.5 at Oxford first semester and retook the SAT boosting it from a 1260 to a 1380.

DukeDev,

Slipper's comments were heavily biased and not substantiated. I have friends from Oxford who like the place and as a matter of fact one of them even misses it now that he is in Emory Coll. Oxford is more of a small community school. If you are the type of guy who likes going unnoticed than I guess it's not the right place for you.

oxemory is insanely small. Imagine a circle with a 150 yard diameter and imagine like 8 building around it. It's small. trust me i know i visited there less than a week ago. Academically i'd say it was pretty good (the same as emorys). If you want a party school with a huge party scene dont go to oxford.

Ps. wow slippy that UNC Chapel Hill transfer seems really appealing..i might do that (do you think your bro just got lucky or is it really that easy to transfer?)

Its ridiculously easy. It might be the easiest top 25 school to get into as a transfer, funny since its so hard for out of state freshmen.

My brother is having the time of his life there. He could not have hated Oxford more.

I know Oxford VERY well. My brother went there and I lived on Claremont Campus last summer which was full of Oxford students. I hung out with Oxford kids daily. 90% hated it,

that is...awesome :) thanks for the info!!!

i've heard that people waitlisted in Emory have the option of going to the Oxford college if they need more freshman at the school

^^^
Wow, that's a tough deal, how much does going to Emory mean to you?
