Oxford Course Question

Hey! I’m planning on applying to Oxford but I can’t make up my mind. So there are two courses I’m interested in. History and French, and History and Politics. So with History and French it says on the website that they have students working at the United Nations which is my goal, plus I’ll be continuing my high school language. But with History and Politics, the course is only three years plus I like the political aspect. Any suggestions on which I should choose?

That there are grads working at the UN is NOT a good reason to choose History + French. Pay attention to what they say about the course:

Does that sound like you? Have you looked at the MLAT? (sample paper here; you would do the French and Language Aptitude sections). Remember that you also have to take the HAT for either course.

If you have an IR focus, have a genuinely fluent second language is a great plan- just be sure that you like the look of the course, because it is very intense.

But, if the modules in HisPol look more interesting to you, that’s the one you should choose. Honestly, the more natural interest you have in your subject at Oxford the less painful / more fun it is.

Have you reached AP French?
Do you have at least one AP History (what scores?)
