<p>Oxford to make class attendance mandatory, prompted by fears that students will sue if they fail. Students have already sued and won for bad lectures. Surprising this trend is starting in the UK, since America usually pioneers these kinds of new-era lawsuits.</p>
<p>This, part of the last sentence in the article, says a lot:</p>
<p>"...arguing that students must not be allowed to believe that payment of fees entitles them to a degree regardless of the work they do."</p>
<p>I suppose there are a few students who do not attend lectures, but according to my son, few students attempt to cut lectures because they know that material presented in a lecture may end up on an exam.</p>
<p>The Student Union is furious because they were promised that they would be consulted on policy issues and they were not.</p>
