oxford medicine question

<p>hey everyone</p>

<p>ive been selected for an interview for the A100 medical program at oxford. ill be flying out there in a couple of weeks. i had to take the bmat to get to get such an interview. can anyone tell me how many kids from america get called for an interview for medicine at oxford? is it competitive or does everyone get interviewed?</p>

<p>The reason the BMAT was introduced was to cut down the number of interviewees because there were too many. They used to interview pretty much everyone. Now they interview the top 1/3 of BMAT test-takers (I think). As to how many Americans, almost zero because none apply. You cannot practice medicine in the US with a UK degree without taking many tests again, and medicine as an undergraduate degree is a strange concept to Americans. Also, due to the government quota, Oxford is only allowed to take 7 overseas students for medicine every year. So the chances for all overseas students are low (but don't be disheartened. You may be one! You have already done very well to get this far). Good luck.</p>
