Hey, I was wondering if a current Oxford student/alumni could answer a few questions about the college. THANKS!!!

-In terms of facilities/campus/surrounding area, do you like the college? Are you having/did you have a good time?
-Are the gen eds really tedious? Is it hard to get into a class you need for graduation?
-How was the transition from Oxford to Emory? Did you feel welcomed by previous Emory students, or were they condescending?
-Is the fraternity life big? If you pledge for a fraternity at Oxford, do you have to re-pledge to the same fraternity at Emory, or are you integrated in?

Thank you in advance!!! I really like Emory/Oxford, but I think I would prefer going to Oxford first.

The College is quite small and the surrounding area is rural. I had a great time–probably more than I’ll admit to. Being at the Atlanta campus, there are a lot of things I missed about Oxford.

The gen eds aren’t tedious now that they’ve increased the number of INQ classes (the only addition GER that Oxford has that the College doesn’t). It’s not hard to get classes for graduation, but it can be tough to get major classes, depending on what you’re trying to major in.

Oxford students sort of runs things at the Atlanta campus; we’re like the girls from that recent Beyonce song. They’re are condescending students at the Atlanta campus, but they treat practically everyone who isn’t from NY/NJ that way.

There are (mostly co-ed) social clubs are Oxford. You can pledge a fraternity at the Atlanta campus as early as your second semester, but you have to deal with the distance.

Thank you so much for the info :D

Kids on main campus refer to Oxford transfers as “Oxtards” behind their backs.
^Don’t worry. Some of us have worst names for the soulless business students and the pre-law and pre-med students who just want their parents to love them.
@baseballfan86 : I feel like only a few do that…and if they do, the idiots should know that they are also calling the students at UCLA and various other schools (that many Emory students may know and love) with similar caliber student bodies retarded. Just throwing it out there. Some of these are the same people who believe that UC Berkeley is a private school and that Georgia Tech is easier than Emory by virtue of being public. I have literally heard some idiots say those things. I have no idea what bubble they lived in before coming to Emory and would much rather not think about how they gamed the system to gain admission.
