who else is a scholars finalist? and are you looking forward to scholars weekend in february?

When Did you know the results? Did they post it on opus or by snail mail.

GreenDayFan: are you a scholars semifinalist?

um i got it in the mail yesterday it said Oxford Scholars Finalist. And the Scholars Weekend is Feb 20-21.

My D received her Oxford Scholars finalist letter on Saturday. She will be attending the weekend in Feb. She is also a Georgia Tech President's Scholarship semi-finalist, but we don't expect to hear from them until the beginning of February.

snail mail
I'm looking forward to it; I get to miss school and that's always good. haha I think it'll be kinda cool to do stuff on the campus.

Did you have to apply for it specifically? i mean did you apply for the OXFORD scholarship or did you apply for the Emory scholarship only and the adcoms choose which one you gonna get depending on your stats? because i don't recall my D applying for THE OXFORD scholarship, but i remember her applying at OXFORD college. i'm confused!.. and no mail so far.. we are waiting for tonight's email too( for EMORY scholarship).

and GrenedDayFan if you don't mind telling your stats? thanks!

thats pretty much it. im expecting the minimum scholarship lol.

i got my letter today, but i'm still waiting to hear from emory scholars...

I'm an Oxford finalist, and I plan to attend. (2380 SAT I, 800/780 on SAT IIs, unweighted GPA of 4.0 and ranked 1/400. The ranking is weighted, but we don't have a weighted GPA.)

I haven't heard back from Emory Scholars either. I don't really expect to get invited---my essays and extracurriculars are probably lacking compared to other Semifinalists there.

you should be a finalist for Emory because you have very high stats!!

Hey guys! I'm an Oxford finalist/Emory Scholars semifinalist, as well. I also plan to attend (so i'll see you there!.) (760 CR 760 WR 670 MTH...my achilles heel, SAT IIs: Bio 710, Span 750, Mth 700, unweighted GPA of 4.0 and ranked 1/42)
I probably got in because of my extracurriculars/essay though

your ecs/essays helped but you got in as a finalist because your grades and sat scores are awesome lol.

thanks ^_^--i'm excited for Feb 20th. So many interviews though!

i know! and i havent had to do any interviews for college admissions so these will be my first. But I dont really nervous talking to people so it should be okay, lol. Are you excited about staying in the dorms?

will they also contact you even thou you are not selected as semifinalists?

LesleyG--I would think so, but I'm not sure
GreenDayFan--yeah! I love doing things like that. Are you taking the 'oxford shuttle' from the airport? I'm taking the one at 10am, and hopefully I'll get to sit in on some classes when I get there too

LesleyG--they only contact you if you are selected.

is it true that emory scholars was based a lot on stats...? there were a few people from my school who applied for the emory scholars and didn't get it, and they were probably in the top 10%. our valedictorian got the emory scholars semifinalists, but other than gpa and rank, i didn't think any of us were any less qualified than her...?
