Think I'll get any scholarship $?

bump bump

hey mcon51093,

I actually applied to oxford scholars this year, got a scholarship nod, and ended up getting a VERY good scholarship (for four years!) to oxford and emory. I mean, I am not going to list my stats, cause I don’t want to instill too much hope, or bring your hopes down. But, in regards to what you have given, you seem like a really viable candidate.

Basically how it worked was:

I applied to oxford mid-fall last year '09, MAKING SURE to check the box marked scholarship nomination.

I heard back around mid-January that I had been selected as an Oxford scholar, and that I was to attend a scholarship weekend towards the end of february.

I attended the scholarship weekend.

I received notification of the specific amount being awarded to me.

The scholars weekend was a lot of fun, and it really helps you to get to know the school. A lot of the people there were really fun and interesting. I should also say that when you are first notified, they don’t tell you the amount you will be awarded- this is something they determine after you attend scholarship weekend. I personally really liked the way they did this: they first base it off the app., but then get to understand you on a more personal level with scholarship weekend (Consisting of interviews, activities etc.). It was a truly great experience. I am actually now just debating between oxford and another school. If you can keep it up until the end of the year and make a good impression, then you will have a great chance at a GREAT scholarship for a GREAT school!
Best of luck to you, and if you have any questions, just post back!

and p.s.- I am a white male as well if that helps. haha

Thanks a lot. I had no idea about the Scholars weekend, it sounds interesting.
