Oxford Square

I know that this is a "depends on what you like" question, but if you had an hour to grab lunch in Oxford before a campus visit, what couple of places would you recommend as ones that are "you gotta go to ....." type places in Oxford?

Thanks!

I’ve been to Oxford a couple of times and what a wonderful town! You might enjoy a sandwich while sitting on a park bench next to the court house and then walking over to Square Books, one of my most favorite bookstores anywhere. Alternatively, there are several good restaurants in the Square. Ajax Diner has great soul food and City Grocery has more uptown fare.

I hope you went to Ajax!

Thank you for the responses. We won’t be there until late next week. It looks like Ajax is on the list!

My favorites:

For breakfast, definitely Big Bad Breakfast. (Not on the square, but not far by car.) Has kind of a Bohemian feel, and they make their own sausage!

For lunch, the Rib Cage. Kind of a contemporary pub atmosphere. Good barbecue, good beer selection, and some unique items on the menu such as whole grilled quail.

Ajax!!! DEFINITELY
I love YaYa’s too. Frozen yogurt is delish.
I also love the Old Venice Pizza Company.

But, you know, sorority girls love the light meals…haha

Old Venice is awesome! Upscale, delicious, and fairly inexpensive.

We love BottleTree for breakfast on the square.
