Hi, i'll be entering Oxford in the Spring (not fall) and had many many questions to ask.
Since my sophomore year at high school, i have been wanting to go to Goizueta. But since I was waitlisted at Emory I had to think about going to Oxford and now, ive decided that I am going there. But I have been wanting to know how Goizueta reacts to an Oxford graduate.
Does it depend on how I do in Oxford or does it also matter that I went to Oxford? For example, if a student at Emory College had the same stats and ecs as me applied to goizueta, would they pick her/him over me since I went to Oxford and not Emory?

Also, if I want to go to Goizueta, what math courses should I be taking at Oxford? There are so many options I got confused.

How are the classes at Oxford? Is it true that Oxford's classes are very difficult? If you know, could you compare them to AP or IB classes?
I want to graduate a semester early and I was wondering if that would be possible and still keep a high gpa. (I only have credits for AP Calc ab, AP Microecon, and AP Psych)

from what I’ve heard oxford classes are comparable to the equivalent ones at emory’s main campus, but the students there do end up with lower gpas overall since oxford’s significantly lower admission criteria (on par with those of uga) leads to a student that overall is less capable. However, 2 people with identical credentials apply to the b-school , one from oxford and one from mAin campus , neither would be favored.

so… the students’ grades are overally lower not because the classes are harder or more difficult to follow but because the students there are not as capable academically as those in the main campus?
as for the second statement, i wont be less favored or in a unfavorable situation just because im from oxford right?

I don’t like to hear people generalizing the quality of the student, but it is true that MOST of the oxford students are less qualified than the Emory students. (I know some who chose oxford over emory)

Yaomingho, this applies to most cases, but, it does NOT matter where you go. Most admissions like to see what you made out of the opportunities that were given to you (better yet, created yourself) not where you went. They realize that there are matters into life (personal, financial, religious, etc.)

If it makes you feel any better, I been told that some of the most successful students of Goizueta came from oxford. (I believe you need a 3.6+ to transfer into goizueta’s BBA program)

Keep in mind that oxford college has a new GER.

Oxford GER:
1 Freshman Writing, 1 Continuing Writing
1 Math
2 History, Society, Culture
2 Humanities, Arts, Performance
2 Humanities, Arts, Language (Must be 2 semester of same language, i.e. Spanish 101 + Spanish 102, not French 101 + Latin 101)
2 Health

Yes, that’s exactly what I’m trying to say. The point is that just because someone went to Oxford will not hold them back from transferring to the b-school when compared to someone at Emory College, but if they get worse grades and have a lower gpa in classes of similar difficulty at oxford, then yes that would make it less likely from that person to be admitted as a transfer. Likewise, if they have a higher gpa (and other credentials) at Oxford, they would certainly have an advantage. Note that this scenario only applies to transferring to the b-school and nursing school; everyone at Oxford who meets a minimum GPA and credit hr requirement is guaranteed a transfer to the main campus.
